The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) is pleased to announce that the SAIDS Amendment Act No. 33 of 2024 officially came into force on 31st July 2024. The Act was published in the Government Gazette.
The amended Act updated all the obsolete clauses in the principal Act that were identified by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) as non-compliant to the World Anti-Doping Code. The dispute pertaining to the Code non-compliance declaration filed by SAIDS against WADA to the Court of Arbitration will now be suspended. SAIDS has fulfilled all the criteria for the proceedings to be suspended.
