The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) imposed the following sanctions for the period of June -July 2024:
Quintin Van Der Merwe
South African Powerlifting Federation (SAPF) | Four (4) year sanction
Following a drug test conducted at the SA Classic Powerlifting Championships on 6th April 2024, Mr. Quintin Van De Merwe tested positive for the presence of Anastrozole, Metenolone and its Metabolites; RAD140 and GW1516 and its metabolites.
His period of Ineligibility began on the 25th June 2024 (the date he was notified of his Mandatory Provisional Suspension) and will be effective until and including the 24th June 2028.
Phindile Kubheka
Athletics South Africa (ASA) | Three (3) year sanction
Following an out-of-competition drug test conducted on Ms. Phindile Kubheka, she tested positive for the presence of the Oxandrolone and its Metabolite , 17α- Hydroxymethyl-17β-methyl-18-nor-2-oxa-5α-androst-13-en-3-one, Enobosarm (Ostarine) and GW501516 metabolites GW1516-sulfoxide, GW1516-sulfone.
Her period of Ineligibility began on the 21st May 2024 (the date she was notified of her Mandatory Provisional Suspension) and will be effective until and including the 20th May 2027.
