The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) imposed the following sanctions for the period February 2024 – 30 May 2024:
Minor (Name Redacted)
Athletics South Africa (ASA) | 18 Months
Following a drug test conducted at the National Athletics Championships, the Athlete tested positive for the presence of Testosterone and its Target Compounds.
Their Period of Ineligibility began on 13th February 2023 (the date they were notified of their Mandatory Provisional Suspension) and will be effective until and including 13th August 2024.
Juanita de Necker
Athletics South Africa (ASA) | Two (2) year sanction
Following a drug test conducted at the USSA Track and Field Championships on 5th May 2023, Ms. De Necker tested positive for the presence of Methylphenidate and its Metabolite, Ritalinic Acid.
The Athlete has not been credited for any period of Provisional Suspension as she did not accept the voluntary suspension offered. Her sanction will be effective as from 10th May 2024 until and including 9th May 2026 (midnight).
Minor (Name Redacted)
Swimming South Africa (SSA) | Three (3) months
Following a drug test conducted at the SSA Junior Championships on 23rd April 2023, the Athlete (minor) tested positive for Methylphenidate and its Metabolite, Ritalinic Acid.
Their Period of Ineligibility began on 27th March 2024 (the date they accepted their Voluntary Suspension) and will be effective until and including 26th June 2024.
Seipati Peo
Athletics South Africa (ASA) | Four (4) year sanction
Following an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) after participating in the Elliot Madeira Marathon, Ms. Peo tested positive for the presence of Stanozolol metabolites 3’-hydroxy-stanozolol, 16β-hydroxystanozolol and 19-norandrosterone. An Independent Doping Hearing Panel (“IDHP”) issued her with a Period of Ineligibility effective from 18th January 2023 (the date she was notified of her Mandatory Provisional Suspension) until and including 17th January 2027.
In February 2024 it was brought to the attention of SAIDS that Ms. Peo had participated in the Vaal Mall 15km on 15th March 2023, after already being notified that she was placed under Provisional Suspension. In terms of Article 10.14.1 and 10.14.3 of the SAIDS Anti-Doping Rules, the credit afforded to her for serving the Provisional Suspension is retracted and her new start date of her Period of Ineligibility is now 4 July 2023. This therefore means that her new sanction ends 3rd July 2027 (midnight). It also follows that her results from the Vaal Mall 15km race has been disqualified.
Thomas Oosthuizen
Boxing South Africa (BSA) | Two (2) year sanction
After participating in the 5th Element Promotions’ Battle of the Warriors 7 – Thomas Oosthuizen vs. Limbani Lano, in Hammanskraal, South Africa, Mr. Oosthuizen was found guilty of Evading, Refusing or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection. The Independent Doping Hearing Panel (“IDHP”) issued Mr. Oosthuizen with a Period of Ineligibility of four (4) years from 28th June 2023 (the date of the Final Ruling) until and including 27th June 2027.
The Athlete filed an application to Appeal the Ruling of the IDHP. buy accutane online The SAIDS Appeal Panel confirmed the ADRV, however, reduced the sanction to two (2) years.
Bafana Manyika
Athletics South Africa (ASA) | Three (3) year sanction
Following a drug test conducted at the Midvaal Marathon, Mr. Manyika tested positive for the presence of 19-norandrosterone as well as Nandrolone and its Metabolites. His Period of Ineligibility initially began on 2nd October 2023 (the date he was notified of his Mandatory Provisional Suspension) and was effective until midnight, 1st October 2026.
In February 2024 it was brought to the attention of SAIDS that Mr. Manyika participated in the Actom Turbo Machines 32km on 28th October 2023 after already being notified that he was placed under Provisional Suspension. In terms of Article 10.14.1 and 10.14.3 of the SAIDS Anti-Doping Rules, the credit afforded to him for serving the Provisional Suspension is retracted and the new start date of his Period of Ineligibility is now 14th November 2023. This therefore means that his new sanction ends 13th November 2026 (midnight). It therefore follows that his results from the Actom Turbo Machines 32km race is also disqualified.
