CGF Anti-Doping Taskforce to spearhead clean sport approach at Birmingham 2022

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has unveiled its Anti-Doping Taskforce for Birmingham 2022 which has been put in place to promote clean sport and to ensure a robust Anti-Doping Programme for the Games.  The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) is represented on the Taskforce by Mr. Fahmy Galant and Dr. Elske Schabort.

The CGF Medical Advisor and Taskforce Co-Chair Dr. Peter Harcourt said: “The Anti-Doping Taskforce will play a critical role in ensuring that Birmingham 2022 is a showcase of world class clean sport. We are thankful for the support and expertise of the Taskforce members without whom this would not be possible.”

The Taskforce will coordinate the collaboration of Anti-Doping Organisations from across the Commonwealth to ensure pre-Games testing programmes that are meaningful and effective.

Anti-Doping education will also be a key focus for the Taskforce, which will provide long-term benefits to the Commonwealth Games, beyond Birmingham 2022.
