An eight (8) and a half month sanction from all sport on the Athletics South Africa (ASA) athlete, Thapelo Phora, was issued by the SAIDS Independent Doping Hearing Panel on the 19th June 2021 with his period of Ineligibility commencing from 21st May 2020. Mr. Phora tested positive for the presence of Stanozolol and its Metabolites.
SAIDS appealed the rendered decision, however, the appeal was dismissed. The matter has since been reviewed by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and no case was filed to Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for consideration of further appeal.
