A four (4) year sanction from all sport was handed to the South African Powerlifting Federation (SAPF) athlete, Hendrik Gideon van Zyl following an anti-doping rule violation. Mr. van Zyl tested positive for the presence of Metandienone Metabolite, Metandienone LTM (17beta-OH-methyl-17alpha-methyl-18-nor-androst-1,4,13- triene-3-one) – classified as an Anabolic Agent in the Prohibited List. His period of ineligibility began on 20th May 2021 (from the date of Provisional Suspension) and will serve until and including 19th May 2025.
